About Southwest Georgia Regional Library System
The System proudly serves the residents of Decatur, Miller, and Seminole Counties. The library system houses books, audiovisual materials, computers, genealogical resources, and more to serve the information needs of the residents of the area. The Decatur County – Gilbert H. Gragg Library serves as the system headquarters.
The Miller County – James W. Merritt, Jr. Memorial Library in Colquitt and the Seminole County Public Library in Donalsonville serve as the branch libraries for their respective populations. Our Bookmobile travels in a four week cycle and serves patrons that live outside the city limits, as well as daycares, elementary schools, senior centers, assisted living facilities, and nursing homes.
The library system provides collections, reference services, and events to meet the needs of the communities in our three counties. In 2002, the Southwest Georgia Regional Library System was given the prestigious National Library Service Award by the IMLS. Our system remains the only library in Georgia to receive this award.
The library collection provides a wide range of material, including classic and bestselling fiction and nonfiction, books on CD, large print materials, music CDs, and DVDs. As a member of PINES, you can borrow print material from libraries throughout the state. We welcome your suggestions for new items to be added to our collection, and you may submit an item request online or in person.
Our genealogy rooms offer local histories, yearbooks, microfilm of local newspapers, and numerous other helpful resources. Our genealogy collection incorporates materials regarding the history of Decatur, Miller, and Seminole counties.
The 64 public access computers in our system allow patrons the opportunity to check their email, work on papers, and search the Internet.
We encourage educational, civic, cultural, and governmental groups to use the meeting rooms for non-profit meetings.
